This is largely a Varsity and Alumni run program. While valuing the input of older coaches and advisors, we believe in giving young adults teaching and leadership opportunities to help them grow in maturity and also give back to the community. Bios of our staff members can be found below.
Acacia Danielson
Acacia Danielson (Camp Director, Interpretations) is a senior at Willamette University studying Rhetoric and Media Studies with a minor in Theatre. Having organized and led Puget Sound Speech Camp for the past three years, she is looking forward to adapting the program to meet the ever-changing needs of the NW Speech and Debate community. She competed in the NCFCA with interpretations for three years, qualifying to Nationals twice. She is constantly seeking to improve her leadership and communication skills and hopes to coach/teach public speaking and further pursues rhetorical studies after graduation. Public speaking and oral communication in general are vital for the development and expansion of society and the Gospel. Learning to use the boundless possiblities of language to share beauty, truth, and hope is a goal Acacia loves to discover herself and then share with others. She hopes to see many eager and excited faces at camp this year!
Sarabeth Mullins
Sarabeth Mullins (Platforms, Limited Prep; Basic Camp, Platform and Debate Intensives) is a nationally ranked speaker and debater in both the NCFCA and STOA leagues. During her five years in competitive forensics, she competed in every event except, unfortunately, apologetics. At the 2011 NCFCA National Championship she placed 11th in Extemporaneous speech as well as competing in Lincoln-Douglas debate, Impromptu, and Persuasive speaking at the Championship. At the 2011 National Invitational Tournament of Champions (NITOC) she medalled in Extemporaneous, Impromptu, and Lincoln-Douglas and competed in Persuasive and Duo Interpretation. At the 2011 Region 2 Invitational she won 1st Place in Lincoln-Douglas debate, 1st Place Lincoln-Douglas Speaker, and 1st Place in Extemporaneous speech. She won 2nd place in Persuasive speech at the largest national qualifying tournament in California 2011. Most importantly, she has made what she hopes will be lifelong friends across the country. In 2011-12 Sarabeth has been an invited speaker at 3 area speech and debate clubs, has personally coached motivated debate and speech students, and during the season can be found at tournaments following up with clients and friends. While attending Bellevue College, she has enjoyed using her forensics skills spirited discussions with her classmates in political science and law classes, and has found daily application of the valuable communication skills as she gives reasonable answer for the hope within her. In the meantime, she continues to reminisce fondly about her time in high school speech and debate, and would love to help others embrace that passion. She assisted Acacia in the first three years of speech camp and looks forward to a fourth year.

He competed for two years in the NCFCA, reaching Regionals in his second year in all three of his events. Having been part of staff at Speech the last two years, Ben is looking forward to imparting his love of thinking and speaking through the art of platform and limited prep speeches. The ability to relate one's thoughts clearly, succinctly, and vocally is of vital importance for the defense of the faith. Looking forward to see you there!
Jack DeVight
Jack DeVight (Interps, Platform, Advertising coordinator; Basic Camp) has been involved in the forensics community for a number of years and has enjoyed each and every one more than the last. As a speaker, debater, actor and student his interests are numerous, but all of which center around bringing greater joy and understanding to his friends and community.
Paul Charvet
Paul Charvet (Limited Prep, Platforms; Basic Camp) competed in speech for six years, in that time doing every event except extemporaneous at least once. He qualified to Regionals four years, additionally qualifying to the National Invitational Tournament of Champions in his final year. His love of speech only began after his own experiences at speech camp four years ago, where he first began realizing that doing impromptu wouldn't kill him. In his spare time, he loves reading books and writing fiction, and will be helping coach his speech and debate club this coming year.
Susan Danielson
Susan Danielson (Camp Administrator) is the mother of Acacia Danielson who competed for three years in the NCFCA speech and debate league, going to Regionals thrice and Nationals twice. As a parent coach, she has written hundreds of speech ballots and has observed all levels of competition, always taking careful note of various speakers' strengths and weakness and learning how to craft excellent speeches. She was the AOG club director for one year and a tournament director for three years. She is currently the Verve speech coach and is constantly striving to improve her skills.
